When using the Cannell Library Book Catalog search, I searched under "Internet Communication." It gave me lots of articles and books back. One in particular that caught my eye was "Face-to-Face Communication over the Internet: Emotions in a Web of Culture, Language, and Technology." Kappas, Arvid; Krämer, Nicole C.. It's published by Cambridge University Press which is a creditable publisher and throughout the book there seems to be certain studies on how people are when using the Internet for communication with others.
